Leading into Deez Mats debut at the East Haven Farmers Market
To say I’m tired is an understatement.
My back aches. My thumb is raw from blending chalk. My palms are sore from all the getting up and down. My eyes are tired. Honestly, I’m a little blown away by how much work has gone into getting ready for tomorrow. Flabbergasted.
My son and I spent the afternoon at the Green chalking the walkway in front of our booth. Around 5:00p or so, I really had to kick it into high gear. The truth is, anyone can work when they’re motivated. It’s showing up when you’re exhausted that makes the difference.
I keep reminding myself why I do this. It’s not just about selling shirts or having a good market day. It’s about building something real. It’s about showing my son what it looks like to work hard, keep your word, and chase an idea even when you’re exhausted. I want him to see that success doesn’t just happen, it gets built one late night, one early morning, and one decision to keep going at a time.
There’s a lot riding on this. Every market matters. Every customer matters. Every shirt we sell helps us take another step forward. That pressure is real, but it’s also what keeps me focused. When quitting would be easier, showing up is the only option.
Going into tomorrow, I feel good. I have a solid plan, and I’m genuinely optimistic. A couple of things didn’t make the menu, but I’m excited about everything that did. We even managed to squeeze in a few last minute additions that I think people are going to love.
Most of the chalkboards are finished. Almost everything is packed up. The only thing left is finalizing two dozen shirts.

This weekend we’re rolling out a few upgrades:
Two new Ryobi misting fans
A new Jackery 240 power station 😎
A new three-table “Z” configuration for a better booth layout
If the weather cooperates, we’re also hoping to deploy one or two spinning display racks for our youth clothing.
